Michelle Vanderlands, Petroleum Sales and Marketing Manager, Mackenzie Consumers Cooperative and Alicia Storvold, General Manager, Mackenzie Consumers Cooperative would like to amend Signage Regulation Amendment Bylaw No. 1441, to allow signage for industry leading up to Highway 39 and Mill Road industrial area junction. A copy of the full petition has been included in the centre table file.

Is there anything Council wishes to address in the "For Consideration" or "Centre Table File" correspondence? 

 Jason Olmsted, RPF, P.Eng. Northern Engineering Group Leader, Ministry of Forests, has provided a response to the July 14, 2025 letter sent by the District of Mackenzie, requesting information on regulations and procedures for road and bridge maintenance on Forest Service Roads (FSRs).

The Members of the Official Opposition would like to cordially invite Mayor and Council to meet during the 2025 UBCM Convention in Victoria BC.

The District of Mackenzie has provided the attached written response to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch, and their request for engagement from local government and municipalities regarding the proposed sale of cannabis at events.

Kermit Dahl, Mayor of Campbell River, is extending a personal invitation to attend two key events during the 2025 UBCM Convention. These gatherings will spotlight the essential contributions of both rural and resource communities to BC's economy and provide valuable opportunities for dialogue and connection.

The Council of the Village of Lions Bay is seeking support and endorsement for a resolution to be presented at the upcoming 2025 UBCM convention. The resolution advocates for provincial investment in emergency portable water treatment plants to safeguard drinking water of small communities facing wildfire-related contamination.

Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has submitted recommendations for Budget 2025, calling for sustainable municipal funding to support housing, infrastructure, public safety, and economic resilience. These priorities will guide FCM’s advocacy leading up to Budget 2025 and Advocacy Days this October.

  • THAT Council direct Administration not to move forward with Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1526, 2025 process;

    AND THAT Council direct Administration to move forward with a Temporary Use Permit application for 25 Gagnon Place to operate a kennel.

  • THAT Council awards DOM-25-1 Building Abatement & Demolition project to Clearview Demolition Ltd. in the amount of $432,597 plus GST;

    AND THAT the Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to execute the contract and any related documentation.

In accordance with the "District of Mackenzie Council Procedures Bylaw No. 1470, 2022" notice of the proposed motion was provided. The proposed motion will be included on the September 8, 2025 Regular Council meeting for Council's conisideration.

  • THAT Council names the weight room in the Recreation Centre the “Pierce Northcott Weight Room”;

    AND THAT a plaque be established in the weightroom that describes the accomplishment of Mr. Northcott and why the room is named after him, I.E. his world record and training in the room;

    AND THAT Council invite Mr. Northcott, his family, his coach Bryce Surgenor and members of the Mackenzie Special Olympics organization to an event where the new room name is unveiled, where Mayor and Council can congratulate him on the accomplishment, and the wider Mackenzie community can come and celebrate the achievement.
