CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:15 PM.

Mayor Atkinson acknowledged the land on which we gather is within the traditional territory of the Tse’khene People of the McLeod Lake Indian Band.

The minutes of the Special Meeting held on February 12, 2024 were adopted as presented.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting held on February 12, 2024 were adopted as presented.

Farah Sheriffdeen, Municipal Program Coordinator for FoodCycle Science, provided a presentation to Mayor and Council on the results of the FoodCycler Pilot Program final survey results. The results will be published on the District website.

    THAT Council awards the DOM 24 – 01 Commercial Front Load Bear Resistant Garbage Bins in the amount of $338,527 plus GST;

    AND THAT the Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to execute the contract and any related documentation.

    THAT the Recreation Access Program be updated by increasing the qualifying income level to match Cowichan Bay;

    AND THAT additional referral options from School District 57, Mackenzie Community Services and AiMHi be added to the program;

    THAT the District put forward a motion to the NCLGA to lobby the government to reduce the wait time for diagnostic assessment for children and youth who are suspected of have an Autism Spectrum Disorder or other neurodevelopment conditions.

Mackenzie Community Services presents an Evening with John Brink

Janice Nelson, Publisher of the Macktown Buzzette, commented that it is hard to hear some Councillors speaking during the meeting over Zoom. Mayor Atkinson reminded Councillor's to make sure when they are speaking to speak into their microphones. 

Ms. Nelson asked if the local company that provided a bid for the commercial garbage truck was considered? Mayor Atkinson replied that they had been considered however their quote was more than double the price of the lowest bid received.
